Erin Huang is a designer and researcher working to bring the transformative power of design to communities and partners that need it most.  She joined MASS’s Hudson Valley Design Lab in 2022, where she leverages her academic and professional interest in food systems and urban design to work on projects and research within the Fringe Cities Design Lab and Food Design Systems Lab.

Her architectural projects include leading The Land Institute’s Campus Plan to envision the 50-year future of perennial agriculture, designing buildings for Sojourner Truth State Park in Kingston, New York, and working with local Poughkeepsie community partners Nubian Directions to envision their new youth center in the city’s Northside. Her research projects include exhibition design and urban planning research for HVDL’s Fringe Cities Future exhibit, as well as research and design for an exhibition at Grace Farms Foundation in New Canaan, Connecticut.

Erin holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University. Her thesis, “Alimentary Infrastructures”, envisioned a new hydrological future for California’s Central Valley and its migrant farmworkers, altered by climate change and extreme weather events.
